I’ve updated my system to the latest Mac OS 10.15.1 codenamed Catalina. Well, it broke a couple of apps that I use regularly, Audacity and OBS. There are currently no updates from Audacity. However, OBS has a workaround in terms of a test build. You have to download it, and set the system preferences to allow the Mac OS to access the cameras (webcam) and audio devices (microphones). There are no official releases yet from neither Audacity and OBS projects. Maybe in a couple of months.

OBS Source Is A Red Dot
If you’re adding a media source (RTMP, RTSP or HLS) in OBS and all you’re getting is a red dot, here’s a quick fix.
For Windows, hit Control-F. For Mac OS, hit Command-F. |
OBS Chroma Key
Here’s how to add chroma key (green screen) to your OBS shoot.
- Start OBS.
- Add a video source.
- Right click on video source and select ‘Filter’.
- Click + in the ‘Effects Filters’ section, and choose ‘Chroma Key’.
- Enter a name for the effects layer.
- Fine tune the settings.
- Add background layers.
- Make sure to send to the back.
